Hairy Dog Ears - To Pluck Or Not To Pluck?

Some dog breeds have hairier ears than others and it is a normal part of their anatomy. Owners of these pets often expect or request that the hair be removed during the course of grooming. This is usually accomplished by manually plucking the hair with tweezers or hemostats or, in some instances, using chemical depilatory creams or lotions. Veterinary experts generally do not recommend either of those techniques.

Dr. Jason Pieper - a veterinary dermatologist - explains why and shares his suggestions for dealing with hairy external ear canals.
